Cookies Policy

Cookies are small files that let our site remember you as you move between pages and come back later. This policy sets out what we use them for, the types in use, how you can control them and what changes if you switch them off.

What cookies are and why we use them

A cookie is a small text file that a site asks your browser to store on your computer, phone or tablet. When you return, that file is sent back to us, so we can tell that the same browser is in use and keep your session together. Some cookies last only until you close the browser. Others stay for a set period, unless you delete them sooner.

We also use technologies that work in a similar way, such as local storage in your browser, pixels in the e-mails we send and small snippets of script on our pages. Where this policy says cookies, it covers those as well.

We use them for four broad reasons:

  • Running the site. Keeping you signed in as you move between pages, holding the steps of a deposit together and remembering the language and display settings you have chosen.
  • Keeping your account safe. Spotting unusual sign-in patterns, blocking automated access and supporting the identity and age checks we carry out before an account is fully open.
  • Understanding how the site performs. Counting visits to a page, measuring how long something takes to load and finding errors we would not otherwise hear about.
  • Showing relevant messages. Limiting how often you see the same banner and measuring whether a visit followed an advert, where you have agreed to this.

We hold a gaming licence, and that brings duties around age verification, identity checks and the handling of customer money. A small number of cookies exist only so that we can meet those duties, for example by remembering that a device has already failed an age check, or by keeping a verification step attached to the right account.

The types of cookies we use

We group cookies by what they are for, rather than by who sets them. The table is a summary, and the notes underneath give plain examples of each purpose.

TypeWhat it is forSet without your consent?
Strictly necessarySigning in, security, the cashier and our licence dutiesYes
Performance and analyticsCounting visits, page speed, error reportsNo, only with consent
FunctionalityRemembering choices such as language or layoutNo, only with consent
MarketingLimiting repeat messages and measuring advertisingNo, only with consent

Strictly necessary cookies

These keep the basics working. They hold your session after you sign in, carry the stages of a payment through the cashier, spread traffic across our servers so pages load, and protect forms against automated abuse. One of them also records the cookie choices you have made, so we do not ask you again on every page. These cookies cannot be switched off in our cookie notice, because the site cannot function without them.

Performance and analytics cookies

These tell us how the site is actually being used: which pages are opened, how long a screen takes to appear, where people stop part way through registration and which errors are reported by browsers. We look at this in totals and trends rather than as individual profiles, and we use it to fix faults and simplify pages that are causing trouble.

Functionality cookies

These remember the choices you make so you do not have to set them again. Examples include your language, whether sound is on or off, the layout you prefer and whether you have already dismissed an on-site notice. They also help the tools in your account behave as you expect, so that the limits shown in your account and any reminders you have set appear in the right place.

Marketing cookies

These are only set if you agree to them. They are used to cap how often the same message is shown to you, to keep a message from reappearing after you have acted on it, and to tell whether a visit to our site followed an advert elsewhere. They are not used to direct gambling advertising at anyone who has asked us to stop sending it, or at anyone registered with a self-exclusion scheme.

How to manage cookies

You have two sets of controls: the cookie notice on this site, and the settings in your own browser. The notice controls what we place. The browser controls everything, including cookies from other sites.

In the cookie notice on this site

The notice appears on your first visit, before any non-essential cookies are placed. From there you can:

  1. Accept all categories.
  2. Reject everything except strictly necessary cookies.
  3. Open the detailed settings and turn performance, functionality and marketing cookies on or off one category at a time.
  4. Save your choice, which then applies to this browser on this device.

You can change your mind at any time using the cookie settings control in the site footer. Because your choice is itself stored in a cookie, clearing your cookies will bring the notice back and you will be asked again.

In your browser

Every current browser lets you see and remove stored cookies. The controls usually sit in the settings menu under privacy, security or site data. Depending on the browser, you can:

  • Block all cookies, or only those set by other sites.
  • Delete the cookies already stored for a single site.
  • Clear cookies automatically each time you close the browser.
  • Ask to be prompted before a cookie is stored.
  • Use a private or incognito window, which discards cookies when it is closed.

Your browser's own help pages explain the exact steps. Settings apply to one browser on one device, so you will need to repeat them on each phone, tablet or computer you use.

What happens if you block cookies

Blocking non-essential cookies does not stop you using the site. Blocking all cookies does. If strictly necessary cookies are refused, you will not be able to stay signed in, the cashier may not complete a payment, and our security checks may treat your device as untrusted and interrupt you.

If you turn off the other categories, the effects are smaller. Without performance cookies the site works normally, but we see less about faults and slow pages. Without functionality cookies your preferences reset on each visit. Without marketing cookies you will still see advertising, but it is likely to repeat more often and be less relevant.

Essential cookies cannot be switched off

If your browser blocks all cookies, you will not be able to sign in, deposit or withdraw, and parts of your account will be unavailable until the setting is changed.

Changes to this policy and how to contact us

We update this policy when the tools on our site change or when the rules that apply to us change. The date of the current version is shown at the top of this page. Where a change is significant, we will ask for your choices again through the cookie notice rather than assume your earlier answer still stands.

If you have a question about the cookies we use, want help changing your settings, or would like to know more about how a category is used, write to us at support@casino-luckycharms.co.uk or use the live chat on the site. Please put Cookies in the subject line so your message reaches the right team quickly.

Safer gambling

Our site is for adults aged 18 or over only. You can set deposit limits, take a time-out or self-exclude from within your account, and you can block yourself from all licensed online operators in Great Britain through GamStop. Free, confidential support is available from GambleAware, GamCare and the National Gambling Helpline.
